Dahr Jamail Dahr Jamail is an independent freelance journalist who writes for Inter Press Service, Islam Online, and has been a special correspondent for Flashpoint's Pacifica Radio, and The Ester Republic and Insurgent49. He worked as a stringer for the BBC, was the Iraq correspondent for the online journal the NewStandard News, and has been published online by Truthout, TomDispatch, The Nation, the Sunday Herald, and Common Dreams. He has been honored with many awards for his reporting on the Mideast. The Ester Republic was the first print journal to publish his work. Haymarket Books published a collection of his dispatches, Beyond the Green Zone: Dispatches from an Unembedded Journalist in Occupied Iraq, and he is at work on a second book.
