The Ester Republic

the national rag of the people's independent republic of ester

In the Garden on September 6

I admire the bumblebee's approach
to certain doom, as the earth cools
and the nights grow long.
He's on Veronica still,
nestled among her blue spires,
nuzzling the last blooms
as she goes to seed.
Tomorrow's morning fog,
a shroud for both,
but even so, the nectar is still sweet.
