Volume 1 number 2, February 1999 Fire Break In 1998, the Ester Volunteer Fire Department responded to 120 calls, making it another record-setting year for emergency responses. These included not only fires but medical calls, motor vehicle accidents, mutual aid responses, investigations, and other miscellaneous types of calls. The department will be getting a new tanker soon: the order has been placed, and the tanker should be ready for action by late summer or fall. This is the third piece of apparatus purchased in the last 5 years with the assistance of state grants, matching funds, and revenue earned from wildland firefighting. The availability of these funds has allowed the fire department to acquire new apparatus without increasing taxes to the community. The Ester Volunteer Fire Department is here to serve you, the people of Ester. Please feel free to stop by with any questions or comments, or give us a call at 479-6858. Fire Safety Tip of the month: Use caution when dispos-ing of wood stove ashes. To reduce the chance of an accidental fire occuring, make sure the ashes have cooled down first. | ||
