Fire Break
by Kyle Carrington, volunteer firefighter
Ester Volunteer Fire Department

Hello again! Well, it seems as though the summer has finally arrived! These high temperatures and dry climate have been keeping the fire department quite busy in the past few weeks. We have fought a number of fires both in and out of the district that posed a severe threat to numerous structures. In addition, we have four firefighters who are assisting the efforts in the Delta area.

We are also getting geared up for the Fouth of July parade, which is always a high point of the summer! We look forward to providing a display worthy of the Ester community, as well as viewing the unique entries of everybody else.

Due to the extreme fire conditions right now, the Ester Fire Department would like to remind everyone to use great caution when doing any type of burning. Remember to contact both the University Dispatch Center as well as the State Division of Forestry. They will advise you of any information pertinent to burning dependant upon the conditions.

Tip of the Month:

To provide adequate safety, allow trees to grow no closer than thirty feet away from your house. This will give a safety cushion in the event that a wildfire threatens your home. If you have any further questions, feel free to call the Ester Volunteer Fire Department at 479-6858. Enjoy the sunshine, and remember to wear sunblock!
